Problems We Treat

Diagnosis and treatment of spinal conditions that result in musculoskeletal or nerve pain are provided by our practice. To make a diagnosis, our team will perform a history, physical, orthopaedic and neurological examination.

Back sprains and strains

Sprains are caused when ligaments—the tough bands of tissue that hold bones together—become overstretched or torn. Strains involve a muscle and/or a tendon. You can find more information on back pain here.

Cervicogenic headaches

This type of headache occurs when pain is referred from a specific source in the neck up to the head.

Coccydynia

It’s the pain that develops in the spine’s tailbone caused by childbirth, coccyx injury, repetitive strain injury, poor posture.

Degenerative disc disease

As the name suggests, it is usually associated with repetitive overuse. As you become older, your intervertebral discs— the pillow-like cushions between your vertebrae—can degenerate or break down due to years of strain, overuse, or misuse.

Herniated disc

It’s a fragment of the disc nucleus that is pushed out of the annulus, into the spinal canal through a tear or rupture in the annulus.

Myofascial pain

A chronic pain disorder where pressure on sensitive points in your muscles—called trigger points—can cause deep, aching pain in seemingly unrelated parts of your body.

Piriformis syndrome

This may occur when the piriformis muscle compresses or irritates the sciatic nerve.

Sciatica

This is caused by compression of the sciatic nerve or a portion of it.

Leg length discrepancy

This is also known as limb length discrepancy wherein one leg is shorter than the other.

Spondylosis or spinal osteoarthritis

An age-related change of the bones (vertebrae) and discs of the spine.

Whiplash

A form of hyperflexion/hyperextension injury that occurs during rear-end car accidents.

Chiropractic Techniques We Deliver

Motorised Flexion Distraction Therapy

In Flexion Distraction Therapy, also known as Spinal Disc Decompression Therapy, the spine is simultaneously stretched and flexed by a motorised table that moves gently and continuously.

As your chiropractor applies gentle pressure to specific areas within your spine, your pain will be relieved and your motion will be restored and your spine will be realigned. It can also relieve spinal nerve pressure, pain associated with sciatica, and other radicular symptoms.

Diversified Chiropractic Technique

This chiropractic treatment technique involves manipulation and adjustment of the vertebrae and/or joints in the arms and legs. It is about the most common chiropractic technique utilised today.

Activator Device Adjusting

Chiropractic Activator adjustments typically involve the chiropractor applying the activator device to the area around the affected joints. By first applying pressure, the device is then able to deliver a rapid thrust, which is very gentle and specific.

Activator adjustments are different from traditional ones because the patient remains still during the procedure.

Muscle Release and Trigger Point Release Techniques

We will aim to  identify, isolate, and target the area to break up tension of  scar tissue. As a result, there is will be an increase in recovery speed and blood flow.

Trigger point release techniques are delivered to release tension and ease pain in muscles at trigger points.

Myofascial Dry Needling

The procedure of Dry Needling for Myofascial Trigger Points, otherwise known as Western Acupuncture, involves inserting extremely thin needles through the skin so that we can target painful bands in the muscles.

Dry acupuncture is done using needles without injecting fluid into the body.

A study published in the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy found that trigger points can be relieved by needling tight muscle bands. As a result, you'll feel less pain, and be able to perform better.

Postural Retraining and Rehabilitation

We will aim to include a posture training and rehabilitation program as part of our treatment prescription.

This can also include assessments at your workplace as well as in functional environments, training with video and photographic analysis, and using specialised exercises.
